20 Minutes For A Better Week

Have you ever hit Monday morning already feeling behind?

Work is busy.

The kids have somewhere to be.

There's an appointment you forgot about.

The fridge is somehow empty.

And you know you wanted to get three workouts in this week... you just haven't figured out when.

By Wednesday, you're grabbing whatever is easiest for dinner and telling yourself:

"I'll get back on track next week."

Sound familiar?

Here's something I tell my clients all the time:

A little planning beats a lot of motivation.

You don't need to spend your entire Sunday (or whatever day is best for you) meal prepping, organizing your life and creating the "perfect" week.

Give yourself 20 minutes.

That's it.

Grab your phone, your calendar and something to write on.

Then do these four things:

1. LOOK AT YOUR WEEK — 5 MINUTES

Before you decide when you're going to work out or what you're going to eat, figure out what you're actually dealing with.

Look at your calendar.

Late meetings?

Kids' sports?

Appointments?

A night you know you'll be getting home late?

Dinner out with friends?

Plan around your real life—not the week you wish you had.

If Tuesday is completely packed, Tuesday probably isn't the day to promise yourself you're going to cook dinner from scratch and squeeze in a workout.

That's not failure.

That's planning.

2. BOOK YOUR WORKOUTS — 5 MINUTES

Now look for the openings.

Pick the days you're going to train and book them.

Not:

"I'll try to get to the gym three times."

Instead:

Monday 6:00 AM. Wednesday 5:00 PM. Saturday 9:00 AM.

Treat those times the same way you would an appointment.

Because here's what happens when exercise is left for "whenever I have time."

You rarely magically find the time.

I'd much rather see you consistently train 1–2 times every week than aim for five, get overwhelmed and do none.

3. FIGURE OUT YOUR FOOD — 5 MINUTES

You don't need seven days of perfectly portioned containers lined up in your fridge.

Just answer:

What's for dinner this week?

Choose 3–4 easy meals.

Then check what you already have and make your grocery list.

Bonus points: make enough dinner to have leftovers for lunch.

Also identify your craziest day of the week.

That's the day you especially want a plan.

Maybe it's leftovers.

A slow-cooker meal.

Something already prepared.

Or even knowing ahead of time what you're ordering.

Convenience isn't the problem. Having no plan usually is.

4. FIND YOUR POTENTIAL ROADBLOCK(S) — 5 MINUTES

Ask yourself:

"What is most likely to throw me off this week?"

A late workday?

Poor sleep?

Not having groceries?

A packed Wednesday night?

Then decide what you'll do before it happens.

If you miss Monday's workout, Wednesday becomes non-negotiable.

If you get home late, you've already got leftovers ready.

If the morning gets chaotic, breakfast is something you can grab on the way out.

You're not trying to predict every possible problem.

You're simply making the healthy choice a little easier when life inevitably gets busy.

That's your Setup.

20 minutes.

Four decisions.

And suddenly Monday doesn't feel quite as chaotic.

Will your week go perfectly?

Absolutely not. 😂

That's not the goal.

The goal is to stop relying on motivation and start creating an environment where taking care of yourself is actually realistic.

Because consistency isn't about having more discipline than everyone else.

A lot of the time, it's simply having a plan.

Try it this Sunday (or whichever day is best for you)

Then see how different your week feels. ❤️
