Why the Scale Sucks

All right now, be honest…..

Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by the scale.

Yep, we’ve all been there. It’s one of those barriers that is tough to overcome on your own. It can really dictate your mental game and ultimately hold you back!

The cool thing is, the scale doesn’t really define your progress. That’s right!

The scale is a straight up liar.

Here’s why:

  • The scale tells you your entire body weight - that means water weight, food inside your digestive tract, muscle, you name it. Even body fat specific scales can be easily thrown off by water retention!

  • You can be gaining muscle and dropping fat at the same time - so a lot of the time body weight wont be budging! That can be discouraging when you are putting in all the work and doing all the right things.

Don’t get us wrong, the scale is a great tool to use on more of a larger scale to show the trend over weeks to months. So.. what do we do instead to make sure we are making progress in the meantime?

  • Take other markers of measurements - take photos using similar lighting and clothing each week, and circumference measurements like hips, waist and chest

  • Be aware - take note of how your clothes fit and how your body feels moving through your workouts.

Still not sure how to get past the hold the scale has on you every time you try to put your best food forward?

A coach can help you better understand the ins and outs to move past that mental block for life. Having that knowledge on your side and that someone in your corner through the ups and downs can make all the difference in breaking through that emotional cycle you might be finding yourself in.

I am all about making changes to your habits that aren’t all about losing weight, but about making you feel, look, and perform better. Who doesn’t want that?

If you are struggling, reply back to this email "HELP" and Ill give you some tips on how to let go of the scale and start to see your NSV (non scale victories) as true wins!
